Network Infrastructure

Data102 bandwidth and loop availability offerings are second to none in the Colorado Springs market. Not only does Data102 provide colocation space to both Qwest and Level3 directly, many of the state's best ISPs also have facilities in our datacenters. Having onsite local exchange carriers reduces cross-connect and local loop charges drastically, while on-site ISPs provide volume bandwidth at wholesale costs. Data102 is also one of the few carrier-neutral providers, in that we are completely impartial from who customers buy bandwidth and transit from, resulting in the best price every time.

Transport Options
Transport costs have traditionally been the major sticking point when it comes to buying volume internet access. Data102 has resolved this problem by providing a meet-me room, where customers can bring their servers and carriers can bring their fiber, reducing cost, complexity and timelines for everyone involved. Currently, Level3, Qwest & 360 Networks all colocate at the Data102 facility, delivering incredible amounts of transport fiber. Time Warner Telecom (formerly Xspedius), is only four floors away and MCI/UUNet/Verizon, Broadwing, Legacy ICG & WilTel are all inbuilding as well. Having these major vendors in our building reduces the cost of last mile runs drastically; instead of delivering a T1 ten miles away and incurring a large cost, you can now run a piece of cat5 cable across the room. Also, due to the large amount of fiber in our facility, transit up and down the front range can be had for below-wholesale costs, meaning that you can buy wholesale Denver bandwidth from your favorite northern ISP, yet keep loop costs to Denver to a minimum.

Transit & DIA Options
Bandwidth costs can make or break an IT group, and Data102 provides a complete solution to that dilemma. In addition to having provider-fiber in the same room, Data102 is home to many premier Colorado Internet Service Providers. If you choose not to purchase bandwidth directly from the onsite carriers, our local ISPs can sell you premium bandwidth and transit for a fraction of what it would normally cost. Onsite and in-building ISPs that can provide bandwidth are: ICG/Level3, Qwest, MCI/UUNet/Verizon, AT&T, Front Range Internet, PCI Systems, High Plains Internet, Time Warner, Viawest, Microsource, IT-Communications and Data102's own DataDirect.

DataDirect
Data102 is also capable of delivering bandwidth directly to our small and medium-sized business customers. DataDirect is one of the largest single purchaser of Internet bandwidth in southern Colorado. We purchase multiple hundred megabit feeds from Level3, Time Warner Telecom & Cogent Communications. All of these providers are combined together into a industry-proven three-tier network configuration, comprised of a redundant pair of core routers, a large distribution layer to handle customer gateways & HSRP, and an access layer that provides layer 2 fault tolerance. We also use BGP4 exclusively and do not do any sort of traffic shaping, providing best-case routing to all Internet destinations. Data102 is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Internet Exchange, as well as the Pikes Peak Internet Exchange. Data102 offers this bandwidth as an in-house solution to customers who choose not to utilize the volume bandwidth available from the large local carriers, but still need quality internet connectivity.
